Cannot connect. check server settings.

Jan 27, 2011 at 3:11 PM

Hi,

I have installed the tool and tried to connect to the reporting service,  I following the server settings explained in the codeplex home page of this product, but keep on getting this error:

Cannot connect.  check server settings.

Remark:  If I use the browser to get to http://tfs2010/ReportServer/ReportService.asmx I can see everything normally.  I have configured TFS2010 with SharePoint Foundation Server 2010.  I can see all reports normally via SharePoint portals or browsers.  Only when I would like to to use the ReportServer Explorer, I have this problem.

I would appreciate any help/ suggestion.

In the log, there is this:

Could you please send / post a screenshot of your server settings. The web service url must be something like http://intranet/_vti_bin/ReportServer/ReportService2006.asmx . Also, the report library settings is not configured properly since the error indicates that it is set to /http://server/SiteDirectory/Rapportage/Rapporten which is probably not the case in your environment. The setting must point to the url of the document library you have configured in SharePoint for your reports.

Thanks for your reply,

1. Below ist he screen shot that shows the server setting. Please note that when I copy the exact url to IE, I have no error:

http://tfs2010/ReportServer/ReportServiceice2006.asmx

(tfs2010 is the alias name of our server)

2. Sorry about the previous log, It was a wrong trace. The one for this screen shot is:

31-01-2011 15:11 : Error connecting to http://tfs2010/ReportServer/ReportService2006.asmx :

31-01-2011 15:11 : An error occured: System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Server did not recognize the value of HTTP Header SOAPAction: http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2005/06/30/reporting/reportingservices/ListChildren.

I have tried many settings, with explicit Authentication, etc. but I cannot get it work.
